Description: First Responders have a suicide rate 10x greater than that of the general population. This presentation will address emerging awareness of mental health and wellness of First Responders from the speakers perspective with over 25 years of Fire/EMS experience. A broad discussion of this emerging trend will occur and identify resources available for this population. The speaker’s personal experience with suicide of a close family member who was a career firefighter will be shared.
