Improving Occupant Protection

Improving Occupant Protection

January 25, 2019
10:30 AM  -  11:45 AM

Description: As ambulance interiors begin to reflect new understanding about the importance of occupant protection, the issue of how to transport children is being examined. Not only are some widely held beliefs being challenged, new devices which make child patients safer in the back of the ambulance have appeared. We will review commercial devices and demonstrate the newest products. The final segment will examine injuries caused by child passenger restraints when they are not used properly.

Objectives:

  • List advantages of proper restraint devices.
  • Apply common restraint devices to ambulance cots.
  • Recognize the dangers of improper restraint of child safety devices in the patient compartment.
